Assistant Professor
CPRIT Scholar
Nils started his scientific journey at the University of Freiburg in Germany where he obtained a BSc and MSc in Molecular Medicine and gained his first research experience in mitochondrial biology. He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge where he trained with Mike Murphy. His doctoral studies focused on mitochondrial redox biology in the context of cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury. He then pursued a postdoc with Ed Chouchani at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School where he leveraged proteomics in conjunction with computational strategies to understand how redox processes, metabolites, and metals regulate cellular function by modulating the human proteome.
Outside the lab Nils loves to hike, go for runs, travel, and everything that brings him close to the wonders of nature.
Research Technician
Grace received her B.S. in Molecular Genetics and B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Rochester, where she performed undergraduate research on tRNA modification mechanism and its impact on cellular growth. She is now interested in studying how redox-metabolites control critical metabolic pathways in cancer. Outside of the lab, Grace enjoys baking, reading, exploring new places, and sailing when the wind cooperates.
Administrative Assistant
Dialith does a fantastic job supporting our research operations from the administrative side!
We are excited to grow this page with the profiles of our new lab members!🙂
